DGS Marine : Independent Service and Advice

From time to time, all ship owners and operators have to face matters concerned with insurance claims, as either a claimant or defendant. Dealing with local or international claims, we can supervise and manage all aspects of your marine insurance on an individual project basis or a longer term consultancy:

  • handling local/international insurance claims
  • reviewing catastrophe/contingency plans
  • reviewing claims manual/procedures
  • monitoring claims
  • dealing with underwriters
  • preparing/issuing case management reports
  • reviewing Masters’ reports
  • reviewing recent case law
  • policy analysis of P&I and H&M covers
  • regular claims estimates reviews
  • instructions for experts, professionals and other sub-contractors
  • attending conferences

We provide sound legal advice and practical guidance. Our role is central to a successful claims policy - to resolve cases to the operator’s best advantage, whilst ensuring that expenditure on legal costs is justified and relates positively to the eventual outcome. We will also look at ways in which losses can be minimised with practical advice regarding physical, legal environmental and financial hazards faced by the shipping community.
